One of the great bands...

Was sitting with friends over the weekend debating 'great bands'. It really isn't a legitimate argument since musical tastes vary like, well, musical tastes. But for a couple of generations of folks starting back in the '70s, Little Feat is almost always on the list of truly great rock 'n roll bands. We are thrilled to have amongst our featured artists, the current lineup for the group that brought us 'Fat Man in the Bathtub'...doesn't get much better than that!!

Sleepy little Evanston, Illinois...

...not so much! On a gorgeous summer Thursday evening, Steve Azzato, Richard Mack of Quiet Light Publishing and the web geek (yours truly)got to see three of the featured artists on a single night by driving less than two miles. Louden Wainwright III played at the magnificent venue and host of many of our shoots, SPACE, and a short jaunt to an outdoor concert sponsored by the city fathers let us catch the tail-end of a fabulous show by Robbie Fulks with Grant Tye on kickin' guitar! Here are are their portraits by Steve and a couple of videos from the night (Richard is an award winning photographer and publisher but his iPhone video skills need a little 'honing'!)

The Recording Industry, on the Ropes

As we head in to the second half of summer, this is a disturbing reminder that the music we ALL love depends on us to provide the support required to keep it alive! This week, buy a CD, go to a show, download a couple of tunes...

The Recording Industry, on the Ropes

WHEN I started covering the music industry for Fortune nearly a decade ago, I often heard people gleefully predict that the demise of the big record companies was just around the corner.

Thanks to the Internet, my label-hating sources predicted, bands would be able to bond directly with their fans online, bypassing greedy record labels intent on cheapening the product. Supposedly, the results would be less crassly commercial music from acts like New Kids on the Block and more wondrous sounds from bands like Radiohead. entire article here
